MARJORIE Pickstock, 84, has been honoured for serving in the Land Army during World War Two.
The pensioner, from Grangeway, Runcorn, received the medal and certificate in the post from Gordon Brown.
In 1941 Marjorie, then aged 17, moved from Wigan to Shepton Mallet, Somerset, to serve on a farm as part of the war effort.
The certificate, signed by the Prime Minister, says: “The Government wishes to express to you its profound gratitude for your unsparing efforts as a loyal and devoted member of the Women’s Land Army at a time when our country depended upon you for its survival.”
