A YOUNG thespian who learned stagecraft at Woodford Lodge High School and Mid-Cheshire College has won a place at the London School of Dramatic Arts.

Kristopher Preen, 18, of Rowan Close, Middlewich, outshone hundreds of other applicants to claim one of the 24 places on the course.

He had to deliver two monologues at his initial interview and then another two when he was shortlisted and recalled.

Kris delivered speeches from Shakespeare’s Henry V in both interviews. In the first he also presented ‘Jimmy’s speech’ from Look Back in Anger and ‘Alan’s speech’ from Petang Yang Kipperbang in his recall.

“It was really nerve-wracking but I was delighted to be accepted,” said Kris, who gained a distinction in performing arts at Woodford Lodge and a BTEC diploma with two distinctions and a merit at Mid-Cheshire College.

The one drawback to winning a place at the drama school is he has to fund the course himself.

He’s hoping for sponsorship and anyone who would like to help can contact him on 07938 404321 or email preeny69@ hotmail.co.uk.
