GROWING concern over knife crime has prompted a martial arts expert to teach special self defence techniques to children as young as six.
Paul Lund, who runs the Widnes Kickboxing and Muay Thai Studio, says he decided to start teaching youngsters how to defend themselves from knife attacks following a spate of high profile incidents.
He also recently brought PCSOs into his class to help educate the children about the problem.
He said: “I’ve been focussing lately on self defence from knives as this is a major issue all over the country.
“I wanted my students to know what to do if they’re attacked with a knife, what to do if they know someone who has a knife, and also how to carry out first aid following knife attacks.”
