CHESHIRE thrower Stuart Kellett was so delighted with his first year among the professionals he is aiming higher in 2008.

Kellett, now 26, joined the Professional Darts Corporation 12 months ago.

He said: “I had a great year. The highlight had to be in November, when I reached the last 16 of the World Masters in Bridlington.

“I lost 3-1 to current BDO World Champion Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams, in a game played live on BBC, but I beat Andy Fordham 3-0 earlier in the tournament.

“I picked up nine world-ranking points for that, which was a great start to the year, so I’ve decided to do the BDO circuit in the hope of reaching the World Championships.”

The Dutch Open in February is his next major tournament.

Kellett’s more local triumphs in 2007 were at the Cheshire Open and at the Macclesfield Open.

He also reached the semi-finals of the English Nationals, the last 16 of the England Open and the final 32 in the Welsh Open.

“I need to kick on, but if I can match 2007 this year I’ll be still be happy,” he added.

Kellett, who lives in Lostock Gralam, is equally successful on the bowls green where he also plays for Cheshire.

He is also seeking a sponsor to boost his darts career and anyone interested can contact him at stu@kellett.me.uk
