GEOFF KELLAWAY’S late strike denied struggling Caersws their first win of the season – but the Bluebirds could at least take consolation from halting their five-match losing run.

The hosts, courtesy of Sion Meredith’s cracking first-half strike, were just four minutes away from a much-needed win when substitute Kellaway nipped into fire home a leveller for the Black and Greens.

The late reply was a big blow for the Bluebirds who had their chances to have secured the spoils after taking a 26th minute lead when former Aber player Meredith, on his home debut, was released down the right by Graham Evans and cut inside before unleashing a stunning strike into the top far corner.

Evans then shot over from distance, the striker also forcing a save from keeper Richard Morgan in the second half while Aber defender Sion James cleared off the line from Andrew Davies.

Neil Mitchell was also denied by Morgan on 81 minutes.
