THE jurors in the Jock Straiton murder trial at Chester Crown Court continue their deliberations today, Wednesday.

The jury of nine men and three women who will decide the fates of co-defendants Paul Blower, Nigel Goolding and Joshua Spruce, retired at 10.38am yesterday.

They returned to ask Judge Roderick Evans a series of questions throughout the day, and asked to see vital evidence again.

At 11.30am this morning, after six hours considering the four weeks’ worth of prosecution and defence evidence, they had not delivered their verdicts.

Mr Straiton, a 59-year-old part-time taxi driver, was brutally assaulted on Park Road, Winnington in the early hours of Saturday, July 26 after confronting a group making noise outside Sandybank Flats, where he lived.

He died of his injuries in hospital two weeks later and Blower, Goolding and Spruce, all aged 20, have been on trial for his murder since February 24.
