ROMANCE is in the air at Grange Court retirement home in Winsford, where two couples have become engaged.

Cupid’s arrow struck when Peter Proctor, 69, recently proposed to Joan Palfreyman, 74, at the Weaver Vale Housing Trust independent living apartments.

The couple met when Peter moved into Grange Court in May, and they hit it off straight away.

Joan said: “From the moment I met Peter we got on really well. He’s kind and helpful and I’m so happy to have met someone who cares for me so much.”

Romance also blossomed for a second couple at the home when Arthur Allison, 73, proposed to Thelma Buchanan, 71.

Arthur and Thelma have enjoyed a close relationship for many years and the two are delighted to be engaged.

Arthur said: “Thelma and I are best friends and our relationship is built on great companionship.

“We enjoy going out for meals together and share a lot of similar interests but most of all we make each other very happy.”

Chris Tomlinson, manager at Grange Court, said: “I think it’s wonderful Joan and Peter, and Thelma and Arthur have both found happiness together, and I know everyone wishes both couples all the best.

“To have two couples get engaged at Grange Court is amazing – there must be something special in the air here.”
