CRAIG Jones followed up his second place in the World Supersport Series at San Marino by dominating the two-day practice at Vallelunga in Italy.

In the latest race the Greenbank rider started fourth on the grid and produced a controlled performance.

He said: "I know I didn't get the win but the points have really bolstered my championship chances.

“The high temperatures made it hard work but I've been working on my fitness levels and was able to take it all in my stride.

“We now go to Brno (on Sunday) where I had my first World Supersport podium last year when I picked up second place. Perhaps that is where I can claim my first win for the Parkalgar Honda team.”

Jones’s performance at Vallelunga indicates that first win cannot be too far away.

He was fastest on both days and said: “We found good settings with the Ohlins forks that gave me plenty of positive feedback.

“I like Vallelunga's technical and physical demands on a rider. I was second on this track last year but I think we can go one better when we return in September.”
