CAKES, sales and a stage musical helped St Joseph's Catholic High School pupils raise more than £1,000 for Nightingale House Hospice.

Year 10 pupils held a variety of events, including jumble sales, cake stalls and even a mini-production of Chicago to raise a massive £1,034.28.

'They have all worked really hard,' said Louise Elliot, of Nightingale House, as she received the cheque.

'It is good to get support from young people and hopefully they will continue to support us in the years to come.'
