A CLEAN-UP of an attractive wildlife corridor in Whitchurch is taking place on Sunday August 17 - and volunteers are needed to help with the task.

Leonard Brothers Veterinary Centre and the Whitchurch Waterways Trust are coming together to organise a litter sweep of the Whitchurch arm of the canal.

Volunteers will meeting at Jubilee Park car park at 10am and work their way down the canal.

The litter squad aim to clear all litter which poses a threat to both the natural wildlife and our dogs.

Parents can encourage their children to take part and appreciate the countryside by taking part in a litter competition. The children that collect the most rubbish by weight will win a prize.

Due to health and safety regulations, all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult per child.

Bags, gloves and litter pickers will be supplied and all plastics, glass and metal recovered will be recycled.

Refreshments are being provided by Leonard Brothers Veterinary Centre and volunteers are welcome to take along a picnic if the weather is promising.

People interested need to inform Cllr Andrew Richardson on 01948 665598 or Bob Sumner on 07981 289367 by Monday (August 11).
