THE proud parents of six-year-old Jacob Marsland, who died earlier this month, say his funeral last week was “a fitting tribute” to their “beautiful and brave son”.

Nicky and Anthony Marsland, of Kingsmead, Northwich, collected donations for the Neuroblastoma Society at a private funeral for Jacob, to raise money to research the strain of cancer that killed him.

The inspirational Kingsmead Primary School youngster died on January 9 following a two-year battle with the disease, and his family have been inundated with messages of condolence and support.

Anthony said: “We’re so proud we were able to pay a final fitting tribute to our brave and beautiful son. We took on the task of organising the service ourselves and could only have done this with Jacob to guide and inspire us.

“Thank you everyone for the wonderful cards, messages of support and beautiful flowers.

“Although Jacob is no longer with us, his light continues to shine and inspire so many people. Thank you to each and every one of you for your love and support during the past two years. Please keep Jacob in your hearts forever – may he continue to inspire us all.”
