EVENTS have been held across the region for Dementia Awareness Week.

Cheshire West and Chester Alzheimer’s Society held three It’s Time To Talk About Dementia information and awareness days at Morrisons Chester, Sainsbury’s Neston and Asda in Ellesmere Port.

Diane Riley, support services manager, said: “We’re all living longer which means we’re all facing a higher risk of one day developing dementia. It may be you or it may be someone in your family.

“We have reached out to a lot of people and encouraged them to talk about it.

“If you’re worried that you or someone close to you may have dementia it’s important to talk about it with family and friends.

“We would like to extend our thanks to management and public relations staff at the three stores for supporting the society by hosting the events and to Andrew Miller MP for his attendance and support in Ellesmere Port.”

Mr Miller said: “It is important to get the message across to the public that dementia is not a natural ageing process but is caused by diseases of the brain and if diagnosed early enough the person can live well for longer.”

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their carers and families.
