The report, compiled during an inspection earlier this year, also praised the school for providing a good standard of care for its pupils. And the quality of education provided had improved since the last inspection.

The report also notes that: 'Pupils support each other well. The focus on raising standards in English, maths and science has been effective and standards in most other areas have been maintained or improved.'

The inspectors also noted that the learning support unit: 'Provides a good quality of education for its pupils.'

Chair of governors Christine Thomas said: 'The recent inspection has highlighted some positive achievements.

'It has been pleasing to note that the inspection team have given credit to the rates of improvement across all areas of the school's life.'

Headteacher Dominic Coope added: 'We welcome the findings of the Inspection report and look forward to acting on its recommendations with a view to continuing the rate of improvement in the school's overall performance.'
