WREXHAM manager Brian Carey is hunting for three more loan signings before the transfer deadline in eight days time.

Top of his shopping list are replacements for suspended duo Steve Evans and Chris Llewellyn, who are both sidelined until Easter weekend, and cover for Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Mike Ingham.

Although Ingham will be on European Championship duty when the Dragons travel to Bristol Rovers on Saturday week, Everton’s John Ruddy has been allowed to return to the Premiership club following the completion of a one-month spell at the Racecourse.

And Carey has given himself more room for manoeuvre after sending midfielder Scott Barron back to Ipswich Town at the end of his four-week stay.

“It’s fair to say both John and Scott probably would have wanted to play more games during their time here than was possible,” he said. “But even though things didn’t work out like that, they certainly helped us out and we are grateful.

“It’s self-evident that there are three positions on the pitch for which we are seeking cover and we’d like if possible to sort something out before Saturday’s game at MK Dons, but at the moment we are waiting for people from other clubs to come back to us.”

The Dragons boss is keen to secure loan deals that run until the end of the season – subject to the usual 24-hour recall clause – pointing out that the club face nine matches between next Thursday’s deadline and the final day of the season in which to win their battle for Football League survival.

Carey is optimistic that Ingham, who is currently troubled by a slight groin strain, and utility man Danny Williams (back) will be back for the trip to Milton Keynes this weekend after missing last Friday’s 1-1 Racecourse draw with Bury.

“Both of the lads are still with the physio, but they had a light session outside today,” he added.

“We’ll leave it until a little later in the week to see how they are, but I’m hopeful both of them will be fit for the game.”

Wrexham are repeating their £5 cut-price admission initiative for the next home match against Mansfield Town on March 31 following its success last Friday evening.

A season’s best crowd of more than 7,000 watched the Bury game and club officials, who are hoping for a similar response again, are reminding fans that the tickets must be bought in advance.

Normal Football League prices apply on the day of the game.

l WREXHAM’S Football in the Community programme is running Easter holiday soccer schools for youngsters aged between five and 14.

They are at Newi sports centre, Wrexham from April 2-5, and from April 10-13 at Rhyl leisure centre and Mold sports centre. More details are available on 01978 358545.
