A CHARITY event in aid of Nightingale House Hospice was spiced up by an Indian restaurant.

Country Spice in Hope hosted a banquet in aid of the Wrexham-based hospice.

Homeless charity The Just Help Foundation, which is raising money to build 25 houses in Bangladesh, was also a beneficiary.

More than £1,000 was raised, which will be spilt between the two charities. Tickets for the evening cost £15, which included a five-course Indian meal.

No fewer than 90 people attended the charity evening, including Mark Tami MP, Carl Sargeant AM and Bangla TV reporter Miza Nur Rahman Mizan.

Owner of Country Spice and organiser of the fundraising event, Shamsuddin Ahmed MBE, said: “The evening was very successful and I am pleased to be helping worthy causes in my area and further afield.
