FIRSTLY I would remove all vestiges of Labour control over the economy. They have completely mismanaged the country and their slogan ‘a future fair for all’ is completely misleading. Although local economy issues are important I feel the national issues need to be addressed first.

With that understanding I feel that we should stop selling off the assets of the UK (eg Cadbury’s, the sale of which was funded by taxpayers money from RBS bank for Kraft, a US company) and encourage and widen the manufacturing base to cut reliance on the financial sector. Invest in new enterprise with regard to information technology to stop countries like China and India overtaking this country.

Simplify bureaucracy and reduce red tape on businesses to enable them to employ more people.

We must reduce the national debt and start by not taking any more debt. Efficiency savings where possible but not at the cost of service levels. Reduce foreign aid – we have people in our own country who are in desperate need yet they seem ignored.

Most important, make the banks, particularly the nationalised ones, lend more money to businesses at more reasonable rates.
