Airbus 1 Porthmadog 1

IMPROVING Airbus continued their reputation of being draw specialists after sharing the spoils for the fifth time in 10 outings.

After trailing at the interval to Carl Owen’s strike, the Wingmakers battled back to earn a point, courtesy of Gareth Sudlow’s close-range effort.

“We were not ourselves in the first half, but showed good character to come back from a goal down,” said player-boss Gareth Owen.

Porthmadog started the better and took the lead on the half hour when Les Davies broke upfield and floated a pass to Owen, who neatly chipped keeper Adam McGhee.

Ryan Crawford had one shot blocked on the line for the hosts, while at the other end the impressive McGhee saved from Davies.

The Wingmakers started the second half in far more purposeful mood with Darren Williams twice going close.

Owen also clipped the bar, but the hosts got back on terms on 63 minutes when the manager’s free kick was fumbled by Harvey and Sudlow stabbed home the loose ball in the goalmouth melee.

Port went closest to winning the game in the closing stages when Owen broke free, but was denied by the upright.

Airbus’ day was tainted when James Hussaney broke a bone in his foot late on and he now faces six weeks on the sidelines.
