THIS week the Chronicle is launching a competition aimed at finding the town’s best independent traders.
Wrexham Labour AM Lesley Griffiths came up with the idea for the competition in a bid to support the town’s independent traders through the recession.
Sponsored by Wrexham Industrial Estate-based leading specialist catering equipment manufacturer IMC the competition is looking to find Wrexham’s:
Best independent shop.
Best independent cafe.
Best independent pub/restaurant.
Ms Griffiths said: “Everyone values small, local independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants – they are, in many instances, the lifeblood of communities right across Wrexham.
“The economic downturn has impacted on many businesses locally in varying degrees. I thought it would helpful to give small traders in Wrexham a much-needed boost by giving Chronicle readers an opportunity to vote for their favourite independent shop, pub, cafe or restaurant.
“This is a chance for Wrexham people to have their say on which outlet they like the most. I hope as many readers as possible take part in the competition.
“I am very grateful to the Wrexham Chronicle for backing and publicising this competition. I am also indebted to IMC for kindly offering their sponsorship.”
Winning traders will be featured in the Chronicle and will be presented with a plaque to display on their premises.
To vote for your favourite independent trader, send an email to chroniclenews@ cheshirenews.co.uk marked Independent Trader in the subject box or write to the Wrexham Chronicle, Office Two, Daniel Owen Precinct, Mold, CH7 1AP. The competition closes on Friday, July 31.
