Authority chairman, Crewe councillor Peter Nurse said: “We are seeking high calibre applications for the post as we need someone who can lead a force which is committed to delivering effective and citizen-focused policing.

“We are looking for an experienced and successful leader to work with the police authority, the public and our staff to make the people of Cheshire safe and feel safe.”

The job is being advertised in policing press and following a rigorous process, the authority’s selection panel aims to announce the appointment of the new chief constable on October 24.
