MANAGER John Hulse is braced for three games in the space of seven days that could define Rhyl’s season – starting at Newtown tonight.

“We’ve then got Caersws at home Saturday followed by Porthmadog also at home next Monday and if we can maximise these games then we should cement our spot in Europe again,” said the Rhyl boss.

Pleased to have come away with a point in a dour defensive stalemate at Aberystwyth on Saturday, Hulse felt Rhyl were always the stronger sidel.

“The conditions were difficult for both teams but we could have won it if we had put away one or two good openings,” he added.

Third-placed Rhyl will again be missing Carl Ruffer, whose calf injury kept him out at Aberystwyth. Hulse is expected to retain Paul O’Neill after his impressive display as replacement.

“Paul did really well but we’ll be taking a close look at the conditions before deciding our line-up,” said the manager.

“We are looking forward to what we know is going to be another testing game. This is a critical stage of the season and a big chance for us to ensure we achieve our objective of European qualification.”

Newtown will hope to give their fans something to cheer at Latham Park tonight.

Manager Darren Ryan said: "I know that Rhyl will expect to come here and roll us over, but we only lost 2-1 at their ground earlier in the season, and I believe we can get something out of the game.”
