HALTON Housing Trust has been awarded one star out of three in its first Audit Commission assessment.

This year’s assessment said the trust’s customer service, temperature control, and carbon monoxide safety, were all strong, but called for an improvement in customer involvement, quick repairs, and value for money.

The assessment also praised the trust for setting up an anti-social behaviour team and said the trust’s £74m Decent Homes project was on target for completion by 2011.

This year’s one star rating means that performance was “fair”, but chief executive Nick Atkin says HHT has come a long way in a short time.

He said: “We are incredibly proud of our first inspection report which positively reflects the extent and scale of our journey to date.

“This inspection judgement acknowledges that the trust has come a very long way in a short space of time and highlights the commitment of our employees and board to provide homes and services where customers come first.”
