FIREFIGHTERS battled to extinguish a blaze at a house after logs set on fire.

At just after 4.30pm on Saturday (December 22) emergency services were called to Clifton Villas, Little Stanney in Ellesmere Port after reports of a house fire.

Two fire engines from Ellesmere Port attended the blaze which is thought to have been caused after logs were placed next to a log burner.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, before using a large fan to ventilate the house.
