A MAJOR hotel development at the Coliseum Leisure Park in Ellesmere Port will create up to 25 new jobs.

Work on the Travelodge, which will be built next to Prezzo’s restaurant in Coliseum Way, will start at the end of the year.

The company was granted conditional planning permission for the 77-bedroom hotel, which will include a restaurant and bar, in May.

A Travelodge spokesman said: “We expect to be on-site by the end of November or the start of December. A development like this will create around 20-25 jobs.”

The development was given the go-ahead on the basis that the company started work within three years.

Other conditions include construction materials and CCTV security being approved by the council prior to building work, minimising potential noise disturbance, and provision of cycling parking facilities.

The hotel will be split into two units, with the restaurant and bar on the ground floor and the hotel accommodation above over four extra storeys.

Bollards have been proposed for the area around the entrance to the hotel to protect pedestrians from traffic and to allow outside seating areas to the restaurant and bar.

The proposed hotel development would be in character with the surrounding buildings, such as The Vue cinema and The Megabowl.
