A pre-school is appealing to  the community to help raise  money for a new building so it  can continue its work and reach  its thirtieth birthday.

Horn’s Mill Pre-School in  Helsby, which was founded in  1984, requires between £80,000 -  £100,000 to replace its current  home, a mobile classroom  donated by Frodsham High  School.

Manager Sue Huntbach, who has  been involved with the project  since it started, said: “We are  finding it increasingly difficult to  maintain it to an acceptable and  safe level of upkeep.  For example,  the risk of water leaking from the  roof into the electrics is a  perennial and pressing problem.

“We have reached the point  where it is uneconomical to  continuously paper over the  problems and feel a more  permanent solution is necessary  to enable pre-school to continue  to trade and act as a feed for  reception class and serve Horn’s  Mill CP School with a breakfast  and after school club.”

The pre-school, a registered charity, which is independent of Horn’s Mill  Primary School but shares its  playing field, has raised £10,500  so far.
