NORTH Wales has scooped three major prizes in the national Riding for the Disabled volunteer awards.

The winners of the national award regularly give up hundreds of hours of their free time to help out at Clwyd Special Riding Centre in Llanfynydd, near Wrexham.

Christine Jeggo, Andrea Owens, Abigail Thurland, Stephanie Shuker and Sarah Shuker, who all work at Winsford Police Station, use their annual leave to take part in residential holidays for disabled children and adults at the centre, and tirelessly fundraise.

RDA regional chairwoman, Ann Lambert, said: “The Llanfynydd group impressed judges because they are young, enthusiastic and give up a tremendous amount of their time, including annual leave from work to help us with residential courses over the summer.”
