WINNINGTON Park suffered an opening-day mauling at the hands of Bramall in Northern League Division Two West.

The hosts started brightly and were soon 2-0 up. They would have edged further ahead had keeper John-Paul Dodd not been on his toes to make two fine reaction saves.

Soon after, Tom Hughes was fouled in the area to earn a penalty corner which Mark Leigh dispatched with ease.

Buoyed by the goal Park soon drew level after Adam Kueres found Dennis Topping who smashed his shot into the roof of the net.

But Lady Luck was not looking down on the Moss Farm men as Bramall grabbed a fortunate third just before the break.

The hosts then ran riot in the second half and struck a further three goals to complete the 6-2 rout over a tired Park side.
