A HIT and run victim fears he will never walk again.

John Nixon, 49, was crossing Timbrell Avenue in Crewe on Friday when he was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall Vectra car which drove off in the direction of Frank Webb Avenue.

He sustained serious multiple fractures of his right leg, breaks in both hips and his pelvis.

He has undergone surgery to insert metal rods into his leg at Leighton Hospital, where he is expected to be detained for some time for treatment.

Mr Nixon, a semi-retired publican from Kettell Drive, Crewe, said yesterday: 'The doctors can't tell me if I will ever walk again because they don't know the full extent of my injuries.

'I may spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair.'

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision which happened at 7.55pm.

A police spokesman said: 'We are anxious for anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch.'
