SANDIWAY Primary School have been doing their bit for the war effort as part of their Key Stage Two learning.

Pupils and teachers celebrated the end of their history project by holding a Second World War evacuee day.

Each child in Key Stage 2 and all the teachers dressed up in fancy dress reminiscent of wartime.

The children spent the day as evacuees and took part in activities including digging for victory, air raid practice, aircraft spotting and rounded off the day with a VE street party and a sing-a-long.

Acting headteacher Mair Strawbridge said: “Bringing history to life like this inspires learning and makes the events of the past both accessible and real to the children in our school.”
