THE High Sheriff of Cheshire, Alastair Stoddart, was at Whalley Road football field in Northwich this week to kick off a project aimed at tackling graffiti across the borough.

Vale Royal Council and Cheshire Probation Service, in conjunction with the Vale Royal Community Safety Partnership, has introduced a 12-month programme to make people ordered to carry out community service remove graffiti and participate in other improvement works to benefit the community.

Mr Stoddart said: “It’s good to see a project that enables offenders to give something back to the community and hopefully make them aware of the impact of offences such as graffiti.”
