A LORRY driver has been arrested in connection with an accident near Davenham bypass which left a cyclist in hospital.

Police say Northwich man Kevin Hall, 28, “is still very poorly, but now conscious”, eight days after being found lying unconscious on the A533 at Pickmill roundabout. He suffered “severe” facial and head injuries, and is still in hospital.

Motorists and commuters suffered serious delays as a result of the incident, the A533 at Bostock, which connects Northwich and Winsford, was closed and both carriageways of the A556 Davenham bypass were also shut.

Det Sgt Colin Westgate, of Northwich Specialist Investigation Unit said this week: “A local HGV driver has been arrested for failing to stop after an accident and is currently on police bail. A HGV tractor unit and trailer have been seized and are still being examined by police.”
