MID-CHESHIRE College has been encouraging its students to select the healthy option when purchasing lunches and snacks.

The Catering team came up with the idea of involving their vending suppliers, Bensons and global Coca Cola in assisting the campaign with a daily draw.

Coca Cola supplied a mountain bike as the main prize and Bensons supplied a safety helmet to further encourage the students toŠchoose healthy meals such as salads and pasta and low calorie drinks including coca cola andŠreal juice drinks.

“Each healthy food option was highlighted with a special sticker and when students purchased these they were entered into a daily draw to win key rings and memory sticks, they were then re-entered into the main draw for the bike” said catering manager Sandra Walsh.

Lorna McGowan, area manager for Coca Cola said, “The two week campaign has been very successful, the students have really entered into the spirit of healthy eating and it will hopefully continue in their future lifestyle.”

The lucky winner of the mountain bike was 19-year-old Gabriel Savu from Northwich, who is a catering student at the college.
