A TEAM of teenage schoolchildren has lent a helping hand to an artist designing a brand new play area for a Northwich sports club.

Walter Jack, commissioned to create fun new play facilities for youngsters at Moss Farm, has been working with a group of 18 enthusiastic pupils from Hartford High School.

Ideas ranging from aerial slides, dens and a pirate ship were thought up, before the Year 10 youngsters created small-scale models of the proposed facilities.

Paul Williams, assistant headteacher at Hartford High, said: “The objective was to involve young people who live in the Winnington area and who are likely to use the facilities, giving them a real say in what they want.

“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed being able to have a creative and hands-on, practical input into what is hoped will be a very exciting community project.

“The students are now really looking forward to seeing their ideas incorporated into the designs for the play area and watching it take shape.”
