CHILDREN look forward to their time at a Little Neston playgroup, says Ofsted.

The watchdog reached its findings after an inspection of the Acorn Playgroup at Neston Primary School, Burton Road.

The group is privately owned and managed and has 31 children on roll.

Inspector Jane Shaw says the children arrive happy and eager to take part in activities.

The playgroup is welcoming and the staff are committed. They provide a fun environment which fosters the youngsters’ learning and development.

Staff know the individual children’s abilities well and ensure their needs are met. Youngsters have access to a wide range of activities and experiences and their behaviour is good.

They feel safe and secure and as a result make good progress with their learning and development.

The children take part in fundraising activities, check the weather and use a computer. Their creative skills develop well and they have daily access to musical instruments.

Staff attend regular training courses and their relationships with parents are good. Parents have plenty of information about the group and receive clear feedback on children’s progress.

All aspects of the playgroup are said to be good.
