Two streets in the Handbridge area of Chester are being closed on Tuesday (August 20) so that they can be properly cleaned.

At present, parked cars prevent the Council’s Streetscene department from carrying out cleaning operations in Hartington Street and Devonshire Place.

Local councillors Razia Daniels and Neil Sullivan are pleased that the clean-up is taking place.

Cllr Daniels said: “I am delighted that both streets are to be cleaned properly because local people have been asking for this to be carried out.

“Letters are being sent to residents in advance to tell them that the two streets will be closed on August 20.”

Cllr Sullivan added: “Our Highways Service and Streetscene department are working closely together so that the cleaning operation can get underway and highways are also taking advantage of the street closures.

“When the closures are in place, Highways will also take the opportunity to empty street gullies and carry out any road repairs which are needed.”

The diversion, when Hartington Street is closed, will be Meadows Lane, Cross Hey and Appleyards Lane.
