ALEX Hamilton, the Wrexham FC owner, last night accused the town's MP Ian Lucas of jumping to conclusions about a land deal allowing him to acquire the freehold of the club's Racecourse.

Mr Lucas has asked the Inland Revenue to examine details of a 2002 transaction when Wrexham FC negotiated the purchase of the ground's freehold from Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries, for £300,000.

On completion it transferred the asset for a nominal fee to Damens Ltd, a company owned by Hamilton.

Mr Hamilton said the MP should have contacted him if he had misgivings about the deal.
