BUILDERS raised the roof on Cuddington and Sandiway’s new village hall, last week.

The project, which saw the Norley Road pavilion demolished and replaced with a large modern building, is now reaching its final stage.

Builders are now turning their attention to the interior of the hall, which will be used by various groups, sports clubs and societies.

Hall committee chairman Denis Kidd told the Chronicle the new hall will unite the village and be a focal point for the whole community.

“We’re very pleased with how everything is going,” he said. “We want it to be of a very high standard and to offer facilities not available anywhere else in the local area.”

Funding has come from various sources, including a £250,000 grant from the Royal Delivery Programme.

Plans include the main hall and a meeting room equipped with a projector screen. There will also be changing rooms that will be fitted out by Cuddington FC.

Cuddington Tennis Club and others will also be able to use the facility.

Residents have already taken advantage of the impending facility with bookings being made for a 16th birthday party, a ceilidh and two concerts.

“These are the kinds of events we want to attract,” added Mr Kidd.
