FANS were scornful yesterday after former Wrexham FC owner Mark Guterman declared he was supporting Neville Dickens and Geoff Moss's bid for the club.

The former owner was part of a consortium trying to buy the club from Alex Hamilton.

But yesterday Mr Guterman claimed he was now supporting the fans' favourite bid being led by Mr Dickens, Mr Moss and former Everton director Cliff Finch.

He recently came under fire from a High Court judge for his role in obtaining the Racecourse's freehold for Mr Hamilton.

The court case ruled the land transaction invalid and ordered the freehold of the stadium should revert to Wrexham's ownership.

Yesterday, Mr Guterman said: "I am fully behind their bid. I have always wanted what is best for the club."

But yesterday Wrexham Supporters Trust spokesman Simon Johnson said: "I take this statement with a pinch of salt and if he is no longer aiming to buy the club, then his comments are no longer relevant. Hopefully he will now go away."
