THE woman running a mother and toddler group in Great Sutton says she will be forced to axe the club unless it can attract more members.

Karen Phelan puts on the Friday morning sessions at the village hall in Old Chester Road but has to pay out of her own pocket to keep it going due to the lack of numbers.

She set up the group with her sister-in-law Sarah in November last year and has about 10 members of which only half are regulars.

Karen said: “It’s a great place for mums to go with their children and have a chat while they play.

“Great Sutton is a big area so I’m sure there must be people who would be interested in coming. I’ve tried putting leaflets through doors but that hasn’t worked.

“We only charge £2 which provides children with a drink and snack and mums with a cup of tea or coffee.

“We also provide toys as well as crafts and arts equipment for the children to use. But after paying to rent out the hall we’re left out of pocket.

“If anyone is interested in joining the group they can contact me or come down to the hall. We really want to keep it going and to have around 20 regulars.”

If you’re interested in attending the sessions, contact Karen on 0151 347 1963 or 0151 348 0817. They run between 9.30-11.30am every Friday.
