WESTMINSTER Food Action is a friendly group of locals who, for the last five months, have been meeting to look at what stops them from obtaining healthier food in Westminster and what they can do about it.

This Westminster group has been working with Our Life, a health and wellbeing organisation, to look at the barriers they face and learn more about what they, as residents, can do about it.

The group first met in October last year and, after seven weeks of discussing the local issues, listening to regional and national advisers from the likes of Friends of the Earth, Heart of Mersey and University of Chester, made recommendations to the Cheshire West and Chester Council, NHS Western Cheshire and other local partners in February this year.

The group is hoping to develop:

basic cookery classes

a food co-op

and accessible spaces to grow food for Westminster residents.

This friendly group will now meet with these organisations every month to put their ideas into action, but they need more residents from Westminster to join them, in order to help them put their ideas into practice.

If you live in Westminster and can spare an hour a month or more to get involved and want to learn more or have ideas, the group would like to hear from you.
