POSITIVE comments made by Wales’ new Heritage Minister about the future of the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham, have been welcomed by the town’s Assembly Member.

Wrexham’s AM, Lesley Griffiths was speaking following remarks made to the media by the Welsh Assembly Government’s new Heritage Minister, Alun Ffred Jones on his first day in his new Cabinet portfolio.

In his remarks, Mr Jones said he believed the historic Mold Road ground was an important resource for North Wales.

Afterwards, Lesley Griffiths AM said: “I would firstly like to congratulate Alun Ffred Jones on becoming the new Heritage Minister and I welcome his remarks about the Racecourse on his first day in the job.

“The fact he has stated so early on he wants to see the stadium developed for the benefit of North Wales a whole, I believe, bodes well for the future.

“I now look forward to meeting with Mr Jones at the earliest opportunity, to reiterate the case why the Racecourse is important to my constituents.”
