THE parents of Emily May Hughes who died on Christmas day after a television fell onto her head in a tragic accident have paid tribute to their beautiful, bright, clever daughter.

Louise and Robert Hughes have issued a statement which says: "Emily May Hughes died as a result of a tragic accident at her home on Christmas Eve.

“She was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital where staff and the paramedics were fantastic.

"She was transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and arrived there around midnight, where she was in intensive care.

“The staff were very professional and did everything they could to help. We'd like to say particular thanks to Dr Jane Ratcliffe and her team at Alder Hey.

"Emily passed away on Christmas Day evening with her parents at her bedside. Emily was the youngest of four children, and went to Penygelli School and to the Salvation Army Sunday School in Coedpoeth, which family members have attended for years.

“Major Gill Stacey of the Salvation Army has given enormous support at a difficult time.

"Emily is part of a large, well known local family here in Coedpoeth, her mother Louise has worked as a youth worker here for 10 years.

“We'd like to thank everyone for their support, including phone calls from around the world, flowers and cards. The funeral, on a date to be arranged, will be a celebration of her life.

"Emily was a bright, clever girl, well liked by everybody, caring and kind.

“She had a real talent for singing, and had done solos in the school concert just before Christmas.

"We will miss her and will never forget her."
