A GREAT Sutton woman has paid back a charity that gave her a special day during her battle with bone cancer.
Katy Troake, 27, of Summertrees Road, raised £105.11 for the Willow Foundation – a national charity set up by former Arsenal goalkeeper and TV presenter Bob Wilson and his wife Megs – by taking part in the charity’s Piece of Cake campaign.
The initiative, backed by celebrity chef Gary Rhodes, encourages people to hold a tea party to raise funds and awareness for the charity.
Katy baked and served treats to family and friends over two days.
In 2007 the charity provided Katy and husband Brian, 27, with a weekend at Centre Parcs in Nottinghamshire, which was a much-needed break after seven and a half months of chemotherapy treatment for osteosarcoma.
Katy said: “I threw a cake party on Saturday night where the family came around and enjoyed my cakes and a glass of wine or two.
“We visited family members and delivered cakes to them for donations and my husband and I took them to work. I wanted to give something back to the Willow Foundation as they are an amazing charity.”
