A COLLEGE lecturer from Great Sutton will spend her summer working on the challenge of a lifetime at the Olympic Games in London.

Karen James, an IT lecturer at Deeside College, has landed a stint as a member of the technology team in the Athletes Village, where she will help to ensure the Games run smoothly and without any technical difficulties.

Working on a voluntary basis, Karen is a key member of the team and will be tasked with ensuring all IT systems work correctly and to their full potential.

And along the way she will be keeping a log of her activities to feed into lessons for next year’s students in Flintshire.

Karen said: “This was a chance of a lifetime, so when I saw the positions advertised I jumped at the opportunity.

“I am sure I will learn a lot from working on such a huge event, which I will be able to pass on to my students next year.”
