A GREAT Sutton sixth former at Chester’s King’s School has been awarded a financial boost to help him with his university studies.

William Moreland, 18, has received a General Electric Star Award of $3,500 (£2,300) to contribute to his first year’s university education costs. The school has also received $500 (£330).

The GE Star Awards are open to children of GE current and ex-employees. William had to impress the judges by demonstrating academic success, extra-curricular involvement, public service and future career plans, together with his personal experiences.

William is studying four A-levels and is hoping to go to Warwick University in September to study mathematics.
