ANDREW Mitchell proved his enduring class to lift Clays Golf Club’s Seniors Trophy. He shot 83-15=68 to edge Don Wraight (79-10=69) into second.
Rodney H Evans was third (86-16=70), Michael Carding (83-13=70) fourth, Stewart Poole (86-15=71) fifth, Dennis Murphy (92-20=71) sixth and Tony Jackson (88-15=73) seventh. William Hughes (89-16=73) was the veterans winner in eighth with veterans runner-up William Parry (86-13=73) one place behind in ninth.
Dave Talbot (38) won the Seniors Kitty Competition from Graham Stokes (37) and Cliff Davies (36). The previous Kitty Competition had gone the way of Evans (40) from president Roger Hudson (39), Ken Lawrence (37), Talbot (36) and Murphy (35).
Super scores were recorded in an incredibly close Seniors Kitty Competition Pairs Betterball Stableford.
Dave Lambert and Brian Mercer (45), thanks to a better back six, emerged triumphant. Geoff Morris and Frank Carroll (45) were runners-up on a back nine from Baz Jones and Mitchell (45), who were third on a back nine from Parry and Brian Downes (45).
Clays’ seniors team followed a 6&4 victory over Ellesmere Port with a 5.5-4.5 success over Aldersey Green.
Maureen Elkin (31) was the winner of the Ladies Stableford with Anne Richards (30) second and Roberts (24) third. Richards (35) had triumphed in the Ladies July Stableford. Jeanette Williams (32) was second and Diane Julie Dare (27) third.
