ATHLETICS: Vale Royal claimed six of the gold medals on offer at the Cheshire Track Relay Championships at Macclesfield on Saturday.

ATHLETICS: Vale Royal claimed six of the gold medals on offer at the Cheshire Track Relay Championships at Macclesfield on Saturday.

For once the senior men overshadowed the juniors, setting a new Cheshire 3x800m record of 6 mins 5.9secs.

Vale Royal took gold in the girls Under 13s, 15s and 17s and boys U13s and U11s 3x600m, where Hayden Healey, Luke Akerman and George Challinor are the inaugural record holders. Challinor came from behind to win the race, laying claim to one of the best performances of the day.
