MEGAN Rogers is now the best Under 17s women 300m hurdler in the UK following her gold medal performance at the English Open U17s and U15s Track & Field Championship.

The Wrexham AC star powered home in a personal best time of 43.16secs to win her specialist discipline at the Birmingham event.

Clubmate Hannah Thomas also had reason to cheer as she returned to Wales with two medals in the bag and her reputation firmly enhanced.

She was second in the U17s women’s 200m in 24.66 and third in the 100m in 12.18 which leaves her third in the UK for the former and fifth in the UK for the latter.

Tom Cusworth completed a memorable weekend for Wrexham by reaching the U17s men’s 200m final, in which he finished seventh in 22.51.

The trio’s achievements are all the more significant given they still have another year to go in the U17s age group.

Wrexham long distance aces Stephen Walker and Mike Robbins were in action for Wales at the Masters Inter-Area Challenge in Hemel Hempstead.

Walker was third in the 2k race walk in 11.55.0mins while Robbins took fifth in the 3,000m in 9.51.0.

Daniel Weston came 10th in 62.19 at the Great Warford 10 Mile Road Race in Knutsford while clubmate Charles Ashley passed the post in 23rd in 96.11 at the Gladstone Fell Race in Dwygyfylchi.
