BBC Sport Relief is coming to Caia Park.

The Queensway Stadium will play host to a Sport Relief Mile on Saturday as part of a health awareness day organised by Wrexham Borough Council and Caia Park Healthy Living Centre.

Between 1-4pm the stadium will be buzzing with charity runners and healthy living experts who are there to work with the public.

'Go the Extra Mile' with Sport Relief and get yourself sponsored or make a contribution towards the charity, which aims to improve young people's lives at home and in some of the world's poorest countries.

Be part of the biggest mile in history and complete a mile on the track.

At 2pm the Time Trial Mile will start for those who want to set themselves a target and beat it, and then at 2.15pm the Freestyle Mile will begin for those who just want to complete the mile their way, whether that's walking or jogging, or in fancy dress.

Sport Relief money raised at the event will help provide sports facilities and teams for the country's poorest areas to combat anti-social behaviour and crime.

Abroad it will become part of the Comic Relief pool to help battle Aids and starvation in Africa and poverty across the world.

Once runners have completed their mile, they will be able to join the rest of the public to have their health checked by a team of professionals.

Anyone can come along and receive a personal health check consisting of blood pressure, height, weight, body fat, basic aerobic assessment, and free advice on how to improve your health and lifestyle.

Throughout the day there will also be a mixture of skill games and fun competitions including junior football activities for people to get involved with. For further details or sponsorship forms call 01978 355826.
