WEAVERHAM High School’s reputation for producing some of the best athletes in the county was reinforced after two pupils were selected for Cheshire.

Hannah Bishop, 13, and Kate Moulds, 14, earned their call-ups after the school’s inter girls cross country team impressed at the North West Schools Cup event.

Weaverham just missed out on qualifying for the national finals, finishing in fourth, at Princethorpe College near Coventry, but the duo’s performance was enough to earn county selection.

Hannah and Kate will now compete for Cheshire against seven other counties on Saturday.

Also earning representative honours from Weaverham, after their showing in the schools cup, were Alison Street, 14, and Lauren Roberts, 13.

The duo were selected alongside Hannah and Kate in the Mid Cheshire squad to compete at the Cheshire Championships in January.
