FED up residents living off High Street, Winsford, say problems with under-age drinkers and anti-social behaviour are back with a bang.

Winsford Liberal Club, on Siddorn Street, was targeted by vandals over the weekend, with graffiti daubed over the walls and doors with a gold marker pen.

And neighbours fear the trouble which used to blight the area is returning, with gangs of up to 30 teenagers spotted loitering near the club in the last couple of weeks, many drinking.

“It’s terrible now, it’s getting worse,” said one woman, who asked not to be named. “Gangs of them are hanging around. My mum is in her 60s and wanted to go out for a walk the other night but she couldn’t because she was too frightened.”

Residents say the problems ceased after the proprietors of a nearby corner shop, formerly the Nip-In, were forbidden from selling alcohol back in February this year.

But after broken bottles and a shopping trolley were left strewn over the club’s steps at the weekend, they fear the problems have returned.
